Watercolour Wildlife Lessons
About the Artist
My name is Paul Hopkinson, and I am a professional wildlife artist and have been painting for over 40 years. I have written step-by-step watercolour tutorials for the Leisure Painter magazine and also teach my detailed way of using watercolour on my website www.devonartist.co.uk
I started drawing when I was knee-high to a grasshopper, but I didn’t pick up my first brush until the age of eleven. And this was when I first started to paint in oils.
For many years I have undertaken watercolour, oil, acrylic and graphite commissions and have painted portraits, landscapes and also animals.
My focus these days is on the teaching of my style and techniques. As such I do this through my online school, written PDFs and YouTube.
I really do feel that I have found my niche. Certainly I absolutely love teaching others. In addition, I find it really rewarding to see the progress people make as they work on the projects. My paint brushes are still very rarely dry, I am still painting, but I also spend a lot of time video editing.
