Can you tell us about yourself?
Paul: “I am an artist, originally from South Africa and now live and work in Connecticut in America.”
When did you start painting?
Paul: “30 years ago.”
What materials do you use?
Paul: “I use untraditional materials – stuff you may buy at a hardware store. wall compounds, plaster and power tools on the surface of the paintings for texture. I paint in oil paint and then use powertools to create texture.”
What subjects do you paint?
Paul: “I paint still life’s and cityscapes.”
Did you study art?
Paul: “I studied fine art then graphic design.”
Is art a career of a hobby?
Paul: ” Its a 30 year career now.”
Paul: “I liked the movie Jaws when I was a kid and built an 8ft shark out of bamboo and paper-mache,”
Have you exhibited your artwork?
Paul: “Yes, I have a regular show in Holland at Etienne Gallery in Oisterwyk. I also exhibit in America and my next show is at Caldwell Snyder Gallery, San Francisco in November.”
What style do you create?
Paul: “Abstract expressionists.”
