Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Matt: ‘I am a plein air artist, I originally come from Worcester in the United Kingdom. At the moment I live in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.’

When did you start painting?
Matt: ‘I’ve painted all of my life but started seriously with oils about 10 years ago.’

What kind of materials do you use?
Matt: ‘I use Oils mainly on linen panels. I split my time between Plein air and studio to create my pieces.’

What kind of subjects do you paint?
Matt: ‘Mainly the landscapes of the UAE as I feel its important to document our surroundings before they change. I have lived in the UAE for 13 years and never time of the beautiful surroundings here.’

Did you study art or are you self taught?
Matt: ‘I’m predominantly self taught.’

Fun Fact?
Matt: ‘I started my art career as a caricaturist and illustrator’

Have you exhibited you artwork? 
Matt: ‘I have had several shows in the UAE including my first major solo show that consisted of regional land and seascapes last year. I have also exhibited in the UK, Ireland the USA.’

Which artist do you admire?
Matt: ‘All the greats, Sargent, Zorn, Sorolla, Repin, and Edgar Payne to name a few, and contemporaries such as Jeremy Lipking, Richard Schmid, Glenn Dean, Logan Maxwell Hagege, Scott Christensen and T Allen Lawson.’
