Tell us a little about yourself
Kelly: ‘I am an artist living and working in Vancouver, Canada. I paint realistic landscape paintings in acrylic paint.’
When did you start painting?
Kelly: ‘When I was very young, I have always painted, but I didn’t get serious about it until about six years ago.’
What materials do you use?
Kelly: ‘I paint with acrylics, but tend to use more of a watercolour style with thin multiple layers.’
What kind of subjects do you paint?
Kelly: ‘I have three main subjects: West Coast landscapes, Okanagan landscapes and birds of British Columbia. I live on the west coast and everywhere I go I am inspired! I especially love beaches and I am drawn to water like most people seem to be. I paint the Okanagan too as I used to live there for about 4 years and one of my main commercial galleries is located there. And I paint birds because no matter where I go adventuring I always see a bird!’
Did you study art?
Kelly: ‘I have a diploma of Fine Art from UCFV and a diploma of photography from Western Academy of Photography.’
Hobby or Career?
Kelly: ‘I paint full time for my career.’
Fun Fact?
Kelly: ‘I actually love the business side of art. I think that has lead to a lot of my success. Being able to create beautiful paintings paired with a love of marketing and administrative skills makes for an awesome combination!’
Have you exhibited your artwork?
Kelly: ‘Yes, I am currently featured in a group exhibition at the McMillan Art Centre in Parksville, show ends on August 28th. Then in September I have a month long Art Residency at the Laurel Point Inn in Victoria where I will be painting on location every weekend.’
Which artist inspires you?
Kelly : ‘Brent Lynch’
