Can you tell us about yourself?
Jean: ‘I was born in England in 1949 and I now live in Holland. I have taught art lessons to many people over the last 30 years. Now I am venturing in to this wonderful new art adventure together with my daughter.’
When did you start painting?
Jean: ‘I have painted for as long as I can remember.’
What inspires you to paint?
Jean: ‘Anything and everything.’
What subjects do you like to paint and why?
Jean: ‘I like to paint portraits of people and animals which are constantly challenging as every face is different.’
Did you go to an art college or are you self taught?
Jean: ‘I am completely self taught.’
Do you have a career in art or is it a hobby?
Jean: ‘For the last thirty years I have had a career in art.’
If you had to chose four colours, what would they be?
Jean: ‘Lemon Yellow, Manganese Blue and Cyan.’
Have you had any exhibitions or publications?
Jean: ‘ Yes, where to start. I usually have an exhibition once or twice a year. Here are a few of my favourite places that I have exhibited over the last few years.

– For the Dutch Government I designed the front cover the Parliamentary agenda- 1999.
What is your specialism?
Jean: ‘Over the past years I have experimented with every medium under the sun. But my very favourite medium to use is oil paint. I love the smell, the way it flows and the brightness of the colours.’
What medium do you use the most?
Jean: ‘Oil paint and watercolours.’
Which artist inspirers you?
Jean: ‘Rembrandt and Holbein.’
