If you are a prolific painter or not, a portfolio is a good and effective way to store artwork that has been made on paper. Portfolio’s are a very useful piece of equipment to have. Make sure to add a piece of protective sketch paper between each piece of artwork to protect it and reduce contamination.
Portfolio’s come in many different shapes, designs and sizes. Some are made from plastic, some from cardboard and some from a mixture of both. Some are water resistant some are not. There are also portfolio’s which have ring binders on the inside of the spine, which hold plastic show cases to store and show off special and favourite pieces of art work. These are often used to show and illustrate work without having to take the artwork out of the portfolio. Very practical to present your artwork to galleries or universities.
