Tell us a little about yourself
Dan: “I am an oil paint artist from Ojai, California in the United States of America.”

When did you start painting?
Dan: “I started painting in 1995.”

What materials do you use?
Dan: “I mostly paint with oil on linen canvas and often paint the landscape outdoors on location.”

What kind of subjects do you paint?
Dan: ” like to paint the area surrounding where I live in Ojai, California. The Ojai Valley is particularly beautiful with citrus and avocado orchards, and mountains all the way around. We’re also about a 30 minute drive to the Pacific Ocean. The landscape here is continually inspiring. The climate is pleasant most of the year and I enjoy capturing the beautiful light and hazy atmosphere of California.”

Have you studied art?
Dan: “I studied commercial art at Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, Florida, USA.”

Hobby or career?
Dan: “Painting has been my full-time career since 2005.”

Fun Fact?
Dan: “I like to stay active with sports and once made a triple play in a local softball league.”

Have you exhibited your art work?
Dan: “Yes, my artwork has been in many exhibitions since 2001, including the American Impressionist Society, California Art Club, Oil Painters of America and the Art Renewal Center. One highlight was winning first place in the American Impressionist Society 10th Annual National Show. I have also been represented by dozens of galleries across the United States.

What do you specialise in?
Dan: ” I specialize in landscape paintings.”

Which artists inspire you?
Dan: “I’ve been inspired by many artists, but a few favorites are John Singer Sargent, J.W. Waterhouse, William Wendt and Edgar Payne.”

I opened my own storefront art gallery in Ojai, California in 2011, where I exhibit and sell my artwork. I also teach 3 or 4 painting workshops each year.
