Can you tell us about yourself?
Alan: “I was born in Middlesex in the United Kingdom in 1942. I started painting in 1957 and at the moment I am based in Bayeux in France.”

What inspires you to paint?
Alan: “A good juxtaposition of shapes and colours.”

What subjects do you like to paint and why?
Alan: “Buildings, landscapes, harbours, cityscapes. They offer the elements I like to paint.”

Did you go to an art college or are you self- taught?
Alan: “I went to Art College.”

Do you have a career in art or is it a hobby?
Alan: “Career.”

If you had to choose four colours, what would they be?
Alan: “Red, Blue, Yellow and Black.”

Have you had any exhibitions or publications?
Alan: “Yes, too many exhibitions to list – mainly in NE Essex, Devon, London all UK. Chateau de Balleroy & University de Caen, both in France. I have contributed to ‘The Artist’ and ‘Leisure Painter’ magazines.”

What is your specialism?
Alan: “I paint stylised figurative art.”

What medium do you use the most?
Alan: “I mostly paint with acrylic paint”.

Which artist inspirers you?
Alan: “David Hockney is an artist who inspires me.”
